Wells Cathedral School has always been a place where young people are encouraged to grow their talents and fulfil their potential. Our means-tested bursary programme, supported in part by the generosity of the Wellensian community, enables talented children from a wide range of backgrounds to benefit from a Wells education.

Bursaries ensure that ability and potential, rather than financial circumstance, determine who can benefit from all that Wells offers.

Demand for support continues to grow, and the funds currently available cannot support every young person who could flourish here.

That sense of community has shaped Wells for more than a thousand years. Since AD909, Wells Cathedral School has celebrated individuality and encouraged pupils to broaden their horizons. Today’s pupils continue that tradition across music, sport, the humanities, creative arts and dance, shaping the distinctive spirit of Wells for future generations.
